The Blowout
The Blowout is an annual music festival in Hamtramck that showcases the best musical talent Michigan has to offer. Said to be the largest festival of its sort in the world, the Blowout brings in more than 200 bands for four days of music that is played in over a dozen venues and bars throughout the city.
Paczki Day
Perhaps one of Hamtramck’s most notable events, Paczki Day is celebrated every year on Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras. The day begins before dawn when revelers line up at the city’s numerous Polish bakeries to purchase the jelly donut-like paczki and doesn’t end until well after midnight. Throughout the whole affair, local bars host live entertainment and other activities that make this event one to definitely not miss.
Hamtramck Labor Day Festival
Held on Labor Day weekend, this festival features live music on three stages, a carnival area with rides and games, beer, and food tents – all contained within the half-mile stretch of Jos. Campau that runs from Caniff to Carpenter. The culmination of the three-day event is the Polish Day Parade on Labor Day.
